Adopt a Noob Tournament (event idea)

  • I was thinking of starting a friendly tournament within Legion. The tournament will be between bronze, silver, and gold players on the clan. Each player will get a couch from one of our diamond or above players that will train them whenever both people have time. What do you guys think about this idea? Do any of you guys want to coach or play?

  • I am currently training Shadow to get his T up to par and I am on board with this idea as for when it will be done if it can be during the weekend at a proper time for most if not all to take part in and have a check in time so today's mess doesn't repeat

  • We had a great turn out today, but it did get a bit hectic. We will get better at doing these as we go. We had a good time. Well, I did :-D

I think this is a good idea, Kalo. It would be fun to see happen.

Let me know how I can help with it.

  • ya scheduling the tournament at a time that's good for everyone and wont compete with other events might be tricky bit I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out :) I figured this would be a good idea since the lower level players might not want to be in the same tournament as the diamonds and Masters. Also, it will be cool for people to get to know each other.

  • Very true. We can always work things work either around some other event, or we just cancel the game/event that is conflicting for that day. We can always pick up the next week on our D&D games or other things.

We can make it work if we plan it out right and get some feedback (or Participation) from other members either here or in Discord.

  • Hi guys im going to put in my opinion about the tournaments in general. I want to be encouraging and really appreciate all the clan events. I have been silently watching your activity with my pinky in the corner of my mouth.

I think there is a lot of energy to organize activities, and you all are getting better and better at it (better casting, better production value, etc).

Also right now the clan is in a critical founding stage of our growth. This means we should be prioritizing recruitment, and nothing helps with recruitment more than public events. Let me illustrate with 2 scenarios:

    1) LGN member 1 hosts clan tournament for members only. LGN member 2 makes graphics for it. LGN member 3 and 4 spend hours casting it. LGN 5 manages the bracket. The event starts and we receive ~20 viewers. 15-20 of them are already clan members. We are literally advertising to ourselves and using the energy of 5 members to do it.

    2) LGN member 1 hosts clan tournament and advertises it across the web and on all social platforms, LGN member 2 makes graphics, LGN member 3 and 4 cast, LGN member 5 manages bracket. The event starts and we receive 1-200 viewers. 150 of them are not in the clan. We are advertising to people outside the clan!

Ok, so with that in mind, I would like to HIGHLY ENCOURAGE that we start planning some public events to put our energy into. At least for now while we have the potential for serious growth of the community. Things like...

-Legion Weekly , public weekly ____tournament

-Legion Pleb Cup, newb tournament with prize pool

-The Legion Elite - strategy show

    etc. etc. etc.

  • I agreed with you, Darigaz. I think a lot of us do.

This event would still be fun to do as an Inner clan thing as I am not sure how it would work with people outside the Clan (When we are talking about this specific idea for a Tourney)

  • I'm willing to take some Protoss under my wing.

    yumRICExp is my homie...

He'll be eating gas, and crapping Dark Templar before long! Throwin' em' at yo' mineral lines like Stalin on the Western Front!
